Everyone has a long list of crappy customer service stories. But these will restore your faith in humanity. At least for tonight.

One of NYC’s iconic Staten Island Ferry vessels makes the journey to the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Virginia.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!
One of my favorite Christmas songs, sung by Ray Parker Jr.
“The demolition of a real-life amusement park in Norfolk, Virginia was excuse enough for made-for-television movie The Death of Ocean View Park. Factual footage of the park’s destruction is blended into a fictional plotline by screenwriters John Furia Jr. and Barry Oringer. Mike Connors, Diana Canova, Perry Lang, Caroline McWilliams and James Stephens are among a group of funfair revellers who attend OceanView Park on the Fourth of July. It isn’t long before Mother Nature puts on a real fireworks display-a devastating hurricane.”

“You and Me and ABC” 1980.
I miss these cheesy, TV network image campaigns. lol
Check out a bearded Henry Winkler (The Fonz), plus a twenty-something Tom Hanks.
Granby Street in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia c.1941. 70 years ago, it looked a bit like ’40s New York City.
August “Cap” Coleman’s tattoo parlour on East Main Street, in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia. At the time, East Main Street was filled with strip clubs and other diversions that catered to the red-blooded sailors stationed in town. Norfolk banned tattoo parlours in 1950, forcing Coleman to set up shop across the river in Portsmouth.
Now East Main Street is full of gleaming skyscrapers and more “respectable” businesses. Coleman, who died in 1973, was considered one of the forefathers of modern American tattooing. Norfolk finally lifted the tattoo ban in 2006.

The 1st Prince song I can remember hearing was “Controversy”. Granted I was a tot, barely out of pre-school and totally oblivious to the lyrical content. Roughly a year later, one of my older cousins brought the “1999” vinyl album to my birthday party. I LOVED that song, and played it over and over…and over again, hehe. Thank goodness I never moved the needle over to “Let’s Pretend We’re Married”. My Mom’s head would’ve exploded, lol.

Day 12 | How were you introduced to Prince/his music
I heard 1999, Little Red Corvette and International Lover on Denver’s AM 1510 KDKO. Then I went to Record Bar and bought the double album.
What the Virginia Beach Oceanfront looks like after the tourists have been kicked out leave. A pleasant, windy, winter day on the Boardwalk, featuring King Neptune’s (literal) rock hard abs. Why King Neptune is holding a turtle like a basketball, I have no idea.
Hello Kitty Car Rolls Along. Quick loop of a car with a Hello Kitty design, rolling along in Norfolk, Virginia. Shot it on my smartphone.
About
Music Lover. Unapologetic Pop Culture Geek. I created this tumblr page because I was really, really bored one evening...I also like to shoot videos (on camcorder, but mostly on smartphone) of things and moments that intrigue/surprise/amuse me. Spontaneous, quirky real-life vignettes.
